Introduction to Woodworking, Materials and Techniques | 8 WEEKS
Please note that all short course participants (from 2022 onwards) must be fully vaccinated in order to attend class, unless a medical exemption applies. A covid-19 vaccination certificate or proof of medical exemption from SA Health must be supplied upon enrolment (upload above).
Over the course of eight weeks, students are introduced to the craft of woodworking through a series of set tasks, demonstrations and projects under the guidance of Andrew Carvolth, JamFactory's Head of Furniture Studio. This workshop explores finishing, tool making, wood as a material and furniture making techniques. Participants will be guided through woodcarving, parquetry, veneer and finishing techniques to create a sloyd carving knife and wooden tray.
All necessary materials are supplied.
Andrew Carvolth is an Adelaide-based craftsman, designer and Alumnus of JamFactory’s Furniture Studio. Andrew’s passion for craft, process and materials drives his intuitive design practice. Andrew produces speculative works that exhibit nationally and internationally. Andrew is currently the Head of JamFactory’s Furniture Studio.
