KEVIN BOYD GLAZE AND SLIP
In this 3-day workshop you will cover;
GLAZE: ceramic oxides and their relation to raw materials, the science and chemistry that governs glaze formation and behaviour, methods and processes for developing glazes and firing glazes, reading a glaze and analysing results, refining a glaze.
SLIP: clay slips for creating layers of colour and texture that interact with glaze, methods of making and colouring slips, techniques of applying slips, the decorative potential of clay slips, exploring slips with glazes, testing and recording results.
Kevin Boyd has over 40 years of potting and teaching experience with workshops and residencies conducted in all States of Australia and New Zealand.
Over this time, with TAFE and Secondary teaching in Victoria, and his own work, a love for glaze has been maintained and developed. “It is the knowledge and experience gathered and given over this time I most enjoy sharing with members of our ceramics community.”
Kevin is currently a member of the teaching staff at Mercator Ceramics School, Abbotsford Convent in Melbourne.
This workshop is for intermediate - experienced potters.
Lunch not included, but morning tea will be provided.
