Colourful Eco-Earrings with Sue Garrard | SEPPELTSFIELD
JamFactory Barossa:
Workshops at Seppeltsfield Estate
Create your own pair of bespoke earrings from a range of reclaimed materials in this colour-filled and eco-friendly workshop led by jeweller and multi-disciplinary artist Sue Garrard.
Students will be introduced to a variety of materials and processes to design, construct and apply colour to their pieces. Provided with pre-cut, primed pieces of reclaimed aluminium, participants will apply colour with acrylic paint and paint pens before sealing their designs with low-temperature enamel, fired in small portable kilns heated by tea-lights. Additional embellishments can be added using other repurposed materials such as tupperware and reclaimed plastic, before assembling all pieces with sterling silver jump-rings and hooks. Participants will complete the workshop with a unique pair of mixed-media earrings in a configuration, colour and pattern of their own design.
This workshop is suitable for complete beginners; all required tools and materials will be supplied, including reclaimed aluminium pieces, paint, enamel, recycled plastic, jump-rings and sterling silver hooks. (Please note this is a 'slow-making' style workshop due to the time involved in kiln-firing and other processes which will require a steady hand and a little patience!)
