Level 2 Jewellery: Bezel Stone Setting | 7 WEEKS
Suitable for participants who have completed Level 1: Introduction to Silver Jewellery, extend and refine your skills in bezel stone setting; a method of setting that utilises a thin band of metal to surround and secure the stone. Over the course of seven weeks, students will be learn how to bezel-set both round and oval cabachon stones, and have the opportunity to work on an independent project.
Over the first four weeks, participants will be guided through the process of measuring and constructing a bezel housing for their stone, which can be utilised in earring, pendant or ring designs. Students will be shown how to construct their bezel and prepare it for setting, and receive instruction in various methods for setting their pieces.
The final three weeks will be allocated to a free-choice project, which can be another stone-set piece, or a project utilising the skills covered in the Level 1 Introduction course.
All necessary materials are supplied including two cabachon stones, silver and bezel wire sheet for setting and fabricating your pieces. You may choose to purchase extra silver or stones in addition to these if desired. Completion of our Level 1 Introduction to Silver Jewellery short course (7-week course or 4-day intensive) or basic jewellery skills essential.
