Angela Valamanesh Icon Edition 2019
Icon Edition set in dyed and hand formed clay by Angela Valamanesh and JamFactory Associates.
ABOUT THE PROJECT:
As part of JamFactory's Icon exhibition series, Angela Valamanesh has worked with JamFactory's Ceramics Studio and three Associates (Xanthe Murphy, Michael Carney, and Hannah Vorrath-Pajak) to produce this limited edition set of three artworks. Each piece is dyed and formed by hand, then fired to achieve a unique combination of form, colour, and texture. Each Associate worked on one piece, developing an understanding of Angela's techniques to enable them to recreate the pieces under her guidance.
The set is made to be hung or placed on a tabletop. Limited edition of seven.
Angela Valamanesh was born in Port Pirie, South Australian in 1953 and currently lives and works in Adelaide. Angela holds a Diploma in Design in Ceramics from the South Australian School of Art (1977), a Master of Visual Arts from the University of South Australia (1993), and a PhD from the University of South Australia (2012). Her drawings, ceramic objects, and watercolours are the result of an incredible depth of research, referencing complex scientific, historic, and philosophical ideas. Angela's imagery stems from micro- and macro-biology, historic anatomical and botanical illustrations, natural history collections, and rare books. Valamanesh’s oeuvre is populated with the animal, vegetable, and mineral with glimpses of microbes, bacteria, pathogens, and spores.
