Cup Project - Wheel-thrown beaker in stoneware by South Australian artist Deborah Odell.

The Cup Project was born out of a need for community as the world went into isolation. Over three months, nine artists, made up of JamFactory ceramics' staff, Associates and studio tenants, worked on their own range of mugs, cups, beakers and goblets, either from home or safely from their JamFactory studios. This special range of drinking vessels was fired in a collective gas firing at JamFactory – a quiet marking of time as we all start to slowly move back into the world. Featuring works by Ashlee Hopkins, Connie Augoustinos, Deb Odell, Hannah Vorrath-Pajak, Jordan Gower, Kerryn Levy, Sam Gold, Stephanie James-Manttan and Susan Frost.

The environment, immediate coastal landscape and environmental issues have always surfaced in or influenced Deb's vessels being either sculptural or functional. She predominantly uses wheel thrown techniques, often blending clays to create both movement and texture resulting in unique outcomes. Since graduating in 2014 with a Bachelor of Visual Arts and Design at Adelaide College of the ARTS Deb has held the position of contract production thrower in the Ceramics Studio at JamFactory.
