Introduction to Hand Building and Surface Decoration Intensive | 4 DAYS
Please note that all short course participants (from 2022 onwards) must be fully vaccinated in order to attend class, unless a medical exemption applies. A covid-19 vaccination certificate or proof of medical exemption from SA Health must be supplied upon enrolment (upload above).
In this four-day intensive course, students will be introduced to a number of processes in hand built ceramics from coiling, pinching, and various slab construction and surface decoration methods. Students can expect to complete the course with a selection of 8-9 pieces in various forms such as a teapot, mug, jug or vase, and some flat or slab-ware pieces. Final pieces will be glazed and fired in the JamFactory ceramics studio to be collected 2-3 weeks after your course commences.
All required materials are supplied including clay, shaping tools and a variety of glazes to select from. Suitable for beginners and participants who are familiar with hand building techniques but would like to further develop their skills.
