I create ecosystems of objects that interact, move, glow, and respond to one another. I am interested in what happens when a space becomes inhabited by such a network of distinct beings: how it changes our attention, our sense of time, and our physical and emotional state. Together, they form environments with their own rhythms, where curiosity and contemplation can unfold.

Spirata lucea, commonly known as Oxygenium, is a rare organism from the Spirataceae family. It is said to grow in secluded places, where undisturbed surroundings allow it to flourish. At night, its wooden skin begins to glow, rising and falling in a slow breath. Those who sit beside it often become absorbed by its rhythm, forgetting the world beyond it. When specimens are in close proximity, their breathing gradually synchronises. The reason for this behaviour remains unknown.

ABOUT THE EXHIBITION

Discover the next generation of designer/makers in an exhibition of work by the talented Associates across JamFactory’s Ceramics, Glass, Furniture and Jewellery/Metal Studios.

PRODUCT INFORMATION

Dimensions: 800 x 800 x 700
Material: American ash veneer, Tasmanian oak, aluminium, acrylic, custom electronics, dimmable LEDs

Due to the handmade nature of the products dimensions may vary on individual pieces.

Purchases from our shops directly support individual artists as well as our unique exhibition and training programs.

Handmade in Australia.

PLEASE NOTE: YOU WILL BE CONTACTED REGARDING FINAL FREIGHT COSTS AFTER YOUR PURCHASE IS FINALISED AND SHIPPING DETAILS ARE CALCULATED.

THIS PIECE IS ON DISPLAY AS PART OF THE 'TOMORROW TALENT' EXHIBITION.

THE EXHIBITION RUNS UNTIL NOVEMBER 15TH 2026.
