Blackwood Coffee Table | 2 DAYS
Suitable for complete beginners, create and take home your own circular coffee table crafted from solid Tasmanian Blackwood in this two-day workshop held in JamFactory's Furniture Studio. Pieces will be constructed with visible wedged tenon joinery for a unique tabletop finish.
Students will receive an introduction to foundational woodworking tools and techniques such as the effective use of hand tools and woodworking jigs for efficient and precise construction, and learn how to create sturdy joinery, shape, smooth and polish wood with respect to the unique natural characteristics of timber.
Under the guidance of highly-experienced furniture designer and maker Adrian Potter, participants will be guided through the process of marking out, gluing and joining timber components with wedged tenons as well as using an electric jigsaw, plunge routers and hand planes to refine and customise the shape of their pieces; creating a smooth circular tabletop and tapered legs which can then be sanded and polished for a professional finish.
All tools and materials supplied. This workshop is suitable for beginners and intermediate woodworkers.
