Cosmic Owl Dish
Cosmic Owl Dish by Victorian artist Nadia Robertson.
ABOUT THE ARTIST:
I am a self-taught artist, craftsperson, and creator based in Melbourne, working with traditional hand-building techniques to create unique clay sculptures and vessels. For me, clay is a primal matter that offers deep comfort and intimacy. It allows my hands to translate the quiet, often overlooked rhythms of the earth into physical form.
My current body of work explores how clay transforms when guided by the energy of the living world. This flowing, undulating style is directly inspired by regular walks along local creeks and rivers, where I observe the fluid patterns of the landscape and the striking presence of "owl eyes" knots on tree trunks.
These moments of deep observation inspired my Forest and River Owl sculptures. Created as nature’s allies, these guardians bridge our physical world with a spiritual perspective of the outdoors. Ultimately, this collection is a visual invitation to pause, slow down, and leave the busy pace of daily life behind to attune to nature’s ecological cycles.
