ABOUT THE ARTIST

Lily Trnovsky is a contemporary artist and maker working predominantly in ceramics, living and working on Kaurna land. Her practice explores repetitive motifs in both form and text, influenced by the idea of shared experience. Trnovsky employs a combination of wheel-thrown, handbuilt and plaster press and slump-moulded forms throughout her work to achieve tangible objects as a stand-in for intangible thoughts.

Don’t Forget Me and I Won’t Forget You is a wheel-thrown and handbuilt stoneware vessel informed by the ‘love lock’ phenomena that envelops bridges and infrastructure throughout cities around the world. Locks are attached to any vulnerable public surface with space enough to hold them, often accumulating until they require removal for fear of permanent damage to their host structure. This vessel is a monument to the driving force behind such gestures: the pursuit of a permanent declaration of love and devotion.
