Eroded Italian
Eroded Italian by Hugo Curtis
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Hugo Curtis, a second-generation glass artist, was raised in and around glass art. He first tried glassblowing at age 12 and instantly fell in love. Since then, he’s been honing his skills, creating small works, and experimenting with production and larger exhibition pieces.
This work displays Hugo’s deep connection to the ocean, the roots of Italian glass and his personal journey as an artist. The coldwork cuts through the top layer of glass like natural erosion to revive a classic Italian blue and white cane pattern. Symbolising his journey as an artist discovering and celebrating their traditional forms.
