ABOUT THE ARTIST

Léa Tarakdjian is a French glassblower and designer based on Kaurna Country in Adelaide, Australia, where she is a Glass Associate at JamFactory. She trained in France and completed a Bachelor’s degree in Glass and Ceramics at the Royal Danish Academy in Denmark, and was awarded Best Glass Apprentice of France (MAF) in 2019. Her practice combines traditional glassblowing with contemporary design, creating functional objects and lighting influenced by Scandinavian design.

Gum Nut is a series of hand-blown glass vessels exploring shape, elegant forms and patterns inspired by Australian nature. The forms are developed through the blowing process, working with the natural movement of the glass until the material begins to create its own curve. The patterns follow this movement, creating a balance between control and spontaneity while echoing the process of glassblowing.
