Cocoon Neckpiece
Cocoon neckpiece in crocheted antique thread, glass beads, and silk cord by South Australian artist Catherine Buddle.
ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Catherine Buddle is a graphic designer and textiles artist, who creates objects that are both sculptural pieces and wearable art. Her early working life as a biology laboratory assistant and a science illustrator, as well as her interest in metamorphosis and life cycles, informs her work. By stitching these delicate and precious threads with the finest of crochet hooks, she creates vessels, forms and sculptures that are malleable, organic, and life-like.
“The threads I collect to create my wearable sculptures are rare, precious and irreplaceable. They are the essence of my work. Each thread was made via a complex process by highly skilled artisans before eventually coming into my hands"
