Intermediate Wheel Throwing INTENSIVE | 4 DAYS
Designed for practiced throwers who would like to further refine their skills; this 4-day intensive will expand your throwing repertoire with new techniques and forms such as throwing wider forms (eg. plates and bowls with a larger base) using a batt, and throwing pieces to precise proportions to create accurate matching sets and lidded vessels.
Please note that students must have completed at least 2 terms of beginner’s wheel-throwing classes and have confirmed with their tutor (or JamFactory reception) that this is the appropriate class for them. Participants must be comfortable and consistent with centering, opening up, pulling sides and trimming, and able to throw cylindrical forms of different proportions with intention.
All required materials are supplied including clay, shaping tools and a variety of glazes to select from, however participants are highly encouraged to bring their own shaping tools to practice with. Due to the timing of each session, this course covers throwing and trimming only, finished pieces will be glazed on your behalf and fired in JamFactory's Ceramics Studio, to be collected 2-3 weeks after the workshop date.
Students can expect to take home 8-9 finished pieces in a range of forms such as cups, mugs with handles, bowls, plates and lidded vessels.
Students will need to bring a towel and apron. We suggest bringing your own shaping tools. All other materials supplied.
Suitable for participants aged 18+
