ABOUT THE ARTIST

Oliver Hyde is a furniture designer and maker based in Tarntanya (Adelaide), working under the name Circles x Squares. A geometric reference to his initials, the studio name reflects an intentional ambiguity- creating space to move between different materials, processes and ideas. Oliver’s work explores furniture as a means of shaping everyday rituals and interaction, considering how objects influence the ways we inhabit spaces and engage with one another. Moving between precision and spontaneity, refinement and expression he creates enduring objects that balance utility, material character and the presence of the hand.
