Ceramic Bird Sculpture with Cassie Thring | 3 HOURS
Expand your hand-building skills and create your own unique ceramic bird sculpture in this one-day workshop led by Adelaide-based artist Cassie Thring. This fun and intuitive skills-based class combines sculptural and illustrative technique and is open to all levels of experience.
In this introduction to adding narrative to clay sculpture, students will learn how to conceptualise and make hand-built, impressionistic objects from reference imagery. Under Cassie's, tutelage, participants will be guided through the process of designing and crafting bird forms from earthenware clay as well as the application of underglaze materials to add colour and pattern.
This workshop is suitable for complete beginners. All tools and materials are supplied including a selection of underglaze colours to work with. Students are encouraged to bring their own reference imagery of birds that they wish to work from (some imagery will be supplied).
Finished pieces will be fired in JamFactory's Ceramics Studio to be collected 2-3 weeks after the workshop date.
