Bush Dyed Silk Scarf
Bush Dyed silk scarf by Anindilyakwa Arts Centre.
ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Anindilyakwa Art Centre is located on Groote Eylandt in Australia's far north. The female artists from Anindilyakwa who make the unique bush dyed scarves and wraps use a variety of natural plant dyes. The material is folded and rolled and then tied with rope to create a dye resist, and sometimes rusty objects and tea leaves are included for added pattern and colour. They are then boiled in dye pots with dye sources from a range of native plants species.
