Junonia Vessel (Large)

Alexis Mason is an emerging ceramic artist living and working on Kaurna Country in Tarntanya (Adelaide). Her practice explores the spiritual and material interconnection of the natural world through an intuitive engagement with clay. Forms emerge through a slow, responsive process, where each mark generates the next, echoing patterns of growth, erosion, and evolution.

Biomorphic vessels draw on both natural landscapes and the human body - bellied, shifting, skin-like, holding a sense of movement and vitality. Fluid grid structures underpin these forms, referencing the frameworks that shape existence from the cellular to the universal, where order and instinct coexist.

The work maintains a sensitivity to touch, inviting a physical encounter that reinforces connection between body, material, and environment. her practice reflects an attunement to natural cycles and an inherent continuity between all living systems.
