Miniature Animal Sculpture | 2 DAYS

Regular price $235.00

Spend a weekend with ceramic artist Annabel Hume creating your own ceramic animal sculptures. Participants will be guided through the use of hand building techniques and tools to sculpt their chosen animal forms on the first day, with a focus on creating balanced proportions and lifelike poses in miniature, before applying pattern and colour with underglaze and sgraffito techniques in the second session.

All finished pieces will be finished in a clear glaze and undergo final firing in JamFactory's Ceramics Studio, to be collected 2-3 weeks after the workshop date.

This workshop is suitable for complete beginners. All materials are supplied; you may wish to bring some reference images of the animal(s) you wish to sculpt. Students can expect to complete 1-3 of their own miniature animal sculptures (depending on their chosen forms/complexity).

Annabel Hume

Annabel Hume is a visual arts graduate from the University of South Australia with a major in sculpture and printmaking. After completing further study in metal casting, intaglio printmaking and ceramics at ACArts, she has returned her focus to ceramics to create the native Australian animals she loves most:

"After travelling to America three years ago I began to really appreciate how delicate, unique, fragile and ancient Australia is and I celebrate our endangered and diminishing fauna in my work.”

She has participated in several group shows in Adelaide and had her first solo exhibition in Melbourne in 2019. She also teaches workshops in textiles, printmaking and sculpture.
