Torch-fired Enamel Jewellery | 2 DAYS
Learn how to make coloured enamel jewellery in this weekend-long course suitable for beginners. Students will be introduced to the process of designing and fabricating pendants and earrings in a colour, pattern and shape of their own design; with the option to create two pendants, or one pendant and a pair of drop earrings.
Participants will be shown how to hand cut their chosen shape from a small sheet of copper, shape their pieces to add dimension and prepare the surface for enamelling, and apply colour(s) of their choice using sifted vitreous opaque enamels. This class will cover basic jewellery making techniques such as sawing, filing, sanding, doming and polishing sheet metal, as well as provide an introduction to enamelling processes including preparing copper for enamelling, testing colours, sifting and torch-firing enamels.
This class is suitable for complete beginners. All required tools and materials are supplied to complete two projects, including materials for practicing techniques and testing colours, copper, a selection of enamel colours to choose from and sterling silver earring hooks and pendant jump-rings for attachment. (Please note chains/necklaces are not provided for pendants.)
