Shaker-style Side Table | 2 DAYS

Regular price $500.00

In this weekend-long course suitable for beginners, participants will create a small shaker-style side table in solid Tasmanian blackwood and receive an introduction to fundamental woodworking skills under the guidance of highly-experienced furniture designer Adrian Potter.

Renowned for its austere, clean lines, Shaker-style furniture emerged from a religious movement known as the United Society of Believers in Christ's Second Appearing, commonly referred to as the Shakers, in 18th century America. Shaker craftsmanship was centered around the thoughtful use of materials and a form-follows-function approach to design, creating an enduring aesthetic with a long-lasting appeal.

Students will be guided through the safe and effective use of hand tools for drilling holes, hand-planing and sawing - as well as power tools such as a domino machine, router, sanders and thicknesser - to construct their pieces, and learn how to smooth and prepare wood for polishing.

All tools and materials supplied. This workshop is suitable for complete beginners; no prior experience is required.

Side table dimensions (mm): 400W x 330D x 480H
