Knotted Pearl and Charm Necklace with Sue Garrard | SEPPELTSFIELD

Regular price $200.00

JamFactory Barossa:
Workshops at Seppeltsfield Estate

Create your own hand-strung pearl necklace with charm embellishments in this introduction to the technique of pearl knotting, a traditional method used to fix pearls or beads in place for both aesthetics and longevity.

Led by jeweller and multi-disciplinary artist Sue Garrard, participants will learn how to knot pearls individually, practicing with beads and thread before constructing their piece with freshwater pearls and silk thread.

Participants will then finish their necklace with sterling silver findings, with the option of adding up to 7 charms to further customise their piece. An assortment of charms will be provided for students to select from (including reclaimed pieces, prefabricated enamel pieces made by Sue, and commercially manufactured charms in a variety of materials such as glass, acrylic and metal) as well as silver jump rings for attachment.

This workshop is suitable for complete beginners. All required tools and materials will be supplied, including beads and thread for practice, freshwater pearls, silk thread, an assortment of charms and silver findings (clasps and jump-rings).

Participants are welcome to bring some of their own charms to add to their piece if desired.
